In the spirit of TV shows like “America’s Got Talent,” the Cleveland Chamber Music Society will hold its Third Annual Youth Chamber Music Challenge on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 pm at the Lyndhurst Community Presbyterian Church. CYMC3 is free, and all musicians, music educators and friends of chamber music are encouraged to attend what is sure to be an exciting afternoon of music.
Billed as the “battle of chamber music ensembles” this year’s challenge will feature seven groups representing the Aurora School of Music, Beachwood High School, St. Joseph Academy, and Solon High School, all of whom are competing for cash prizes. All of the school’s music programs are well known for their commitment to music and the arts, their talented and dedicated professional faculties, and their exceptional and award-winning young musicians.
CYMC3 is the brainchild of Dr. Melvin Arnoff, an accomplished pianist, composer, and professor of education. A longtime Cleveland Chamber Music Society board member, Arnoff led the efforts to create the region’s first Youth Chamber Music Challenge back in 2015. Whatever the outcome on Sunday, the opportunity for young musicians to perform in front of an audience will be something they will remember for years to come. After all, CYMC3 is about the passion for chamber music and the building of future audiences.
