From movie soundtracks and Broadway shows, to world renowned concert halls, New York-based violinist Tallie Brunfelt has proven her artistic abilities time and time again. Her newest performance endeavor will be to serve as concertmaster of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, succeeding Alan Bodman, who retired at the end of the 2015-2016 season after 30 years of service to the orchestra.
ASO music director Christopher Wilkins said that “Tallie’s audition showed what an altogether superb musician she is. She was especially impressive during her ‘trial weeks’ this past spring when she led Cirque de la Symphonie and Elijah. Her leadership was utterly natural and convincing.” A native of Minnesota, Brunfelt will officially step into her position with the Akron Symphony’s opening concert of the 2017-2018 season on Sepember 23. — Hannah Schoepe
