Cleveland’s oldest Chamber Music Series will ring in its 77th season on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:30 pm in Gartner Auditorium at the Cleveland Museum of Art with a program featuring a trio of prominent Northeastern Ohio musicians.
Cleveland Orchestra concertmaster Joel Link and principal horn Nathaniel Silberschlag will join pianist Dawoon Chung for Johannes Brahms’ Trio for Piano, Violin, and Horn in E-flat, Op. 40.
Earlier in the evening, Link and Chung will play Gabriel Fauré’s Sonata in A, Op. 13, and Silberschlag and Chung will put horn and piano together for excerpts from Reinhold Glière’s Four Romances, op. 35.
Link was appointed to the Orchestra in July 2025, while retaining his position as first violinist of the Dover Quartet and as a faculty member of the Curtis Institute of Music and Northwestern University.
Coming from a family that includes 16 professional musicians, Silberschlag became assistant principal horn of the Washington National Opera/Kennedy Center Opera House orchestra at 19, the youngest member ever to win a position with the ensemble. He joined the Cleveland Orchestra as principal horn in 2019.
Praised for her “enthralling performances,” Dawoon Chung is equally at home as a soloist and chamber musician. Her recent appearances have included the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as chamber performances with the Solera Quartet in Los Angeles, the Rocky River Chamber Music Society in Cleveland, and such international festivals as the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the International Chamber Music Festival in Paris.
Attendees can come at 6:30 on September 9 to learn more about the music in a pre-concert talk by Eric Charnofsky. And those who are unable to attend the live performance will be able to watch a video a few days later.
The fall half of CCMS’s 77th season continues on October 13 with the Escher Quartet, followed by the series’ debut concert by the Lysander Piano Trio on November 17.
