The Cleveland Orchestra’s annual Summers@Severance series will begin on July 14 at 7:00 pm, when the ensemble will perform three works by Beethoven — Overture to Egmont, Symphony No. 5, and Symphony No.1 — under the baton of music director Franz Welser-Möst.
The next concert in the series will take place at 7:00 pm on July 28. Susanna Mälkki, who made her debut with The Orchestra in 2015, will conduct Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 “Rhenish,” and pianist Bertrand Chamayou will be featured in Scriabin’s Piano Concerto.
On August 18, the Orchestra and the Blossom Festival Chorus will perform Mozart’s Requiem Mass under the direction of Patrick Dupré Quigley. Featured soloists include soprano Lauren Snouffer, mezzo-soprano Emily Fons, tenor Steve Soph, bass-baritone Dashon Burton.
Each evening will feature a pre-performance “happy hour” with cocktails and light appetizers beginning at 5:30 pm and an after-party at 8:30 pm with cocktails and soft house music from DJ Brad Petty on Severance Hall’s Front Terrace.
