At 2:00 pm, the third episode of Oberlin Stage Left includes the screening of Composed, a 78-minute documentary that explores the subject of performance anxiety in classical musicians. The film features members of such major orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Cleveland Orchestra (including solo English hornist Robert Walters,who also serves as professor of oboe at Oberlin), and Oberlin viola professor Peter Slowik. In honor of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, Apollo’s Fire invites you to watch the latest episode in its “Music for the Soul” series — a video of the orchestra’s 2017 “Beethoven the Revolution” concert in Gartner Auditorium at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Jeannette Sorrell leads 50 period instrumentalists in the Egmont Overture and Fifth Symphony, and Noah Bendix-Balgley solos in the Violin Concerto.
