Tonight at 7:30 pm in Tucker Hall at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights, Piano Cleveland reunites two of its Cleveland International Piano Competition medalists from 2021 in the first of three Listening Series concerts. Byeol Kim and Lovre Marušić put their four hands together in a concert titled “Piano Duo Do’s and Don’ts.” In-person tickets and virtual passes are available online.

And tonight at 8, WCLV’s Cleveland Ovations broadcasts Quire Cleveland’s March 6 performance of Demantius’ St. John Passion at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, including John Simna’s intermission interview with artistic director Jay White.

Also, the premiere recording of two piano pieces by Georges Mathias, French-born student of Chopin. It’s on from 2 to 4pm over WRUW from Case Western Reserve University. It’s good to keep an eye out for interesting events that suddenly pop up on the Oberlin Conservatory Calendar. Like this week’s Messiaen Mini-Festival in Finney Chapel on Thursday and Friday April 21 and 22. The brainchild of conductor Timothy Weiss and organ professor Jonathan Moyer, the event includes Thursday discussions and Friday performances of two extended works by the French composer (pictured), who died 30 years ago. FEATURED THIS WEEKEND: BW Bach Festival

Back for its 90th iteration after a two-year hiatus imposed by the pandemic, the Baldwin Wallace University Bach Festival packs nine concerts, recitals, master classes and lectures into two days this weekend on its campus in Berea, and spills over into the rest of the year with other Bach-related happenings.

“It’s pretty exciting, with all the artists coming back together from all over the place,” Festival artistic director Dirk Garner said in a telephone conversation earlier this week. “We’re really all so relieved to be performing live again instead of doing it virtually or not doing it at all.”

With the help this year of a generous grant from the Kulas Foundation, Garner has invited two Boston-based ensembles to perform individual concerts as well as to join Garner’s BWV Bach Choir on Friday evening, and BW faculty and student singers and instrumentalists on Saturday evening in four of the six cantatas that make up Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.
