Apollo’s Fire has released details of its summer Countryside Concerts for June and July of 2016, which will include two shows.
June 16-20 — My Island Home: songs and stories of Newfoundland will feature Meredith Hall, soprano, Sylvain Bergeron, lute, and members of Apollo’s Fire and La Nef of Montréal. A rustic celebration of the music of Hall’s homeland with fiddles, flutes, harp, gamba, percussion, and hammered dulcimer.

Cleveland’s baroque orchestra will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2016-2017 under its founder and artistic director, Jeannette Sorrell. Here’s a look at the new season as announced at their most recent set of concerts (details to come later):
October 6-9 — A Feast of Purcell, including the Funeral Music and Ode for the Birthday of Queen Mary, and highlights from King Arthur with Apollo’s Singers.
November 17-20 — The Three Sirens: trios of singers, violinists, and lutenists perform early 17th-century songs and instrumental music exploring the myth of the singing ladies who tried to lure Odysseus to his death.
December 10-12 and 16-17: Handel’s Messiah.
February 16-19 — Virtuoso Bach. Concertos for violins and winds including two Brandenburg Concertos and music by Vivaldi and Telemann.
March 23-26 — Sacred Bach, a spiritual journey, with guest conductor Julian Wachner (Trinity Church Wall Street, New York).
April 27-30 — 25th Anniversary Concert and Mini-Festival, with guest violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley, making his period instrument debut. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Violin Concerto on period instruments along with a weekend festival featuring a Schubertiade, chamber concert, Viennese dance workshop, and panel discussion with scholars and performers.
